Nevaeh was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (a malignant brain tumor) in October 2011 when she was 4 years old. After having the tumor removed, she underwent 4 months of intense chemo followed by 30 rounds of proton radiation in Jacksonville, Fl. Upon completion of that treatment Nevaeh returned home. 3 months later, in July 2012, her follow-up scans showed that the cancer had returned in her spine. Her chance of survival was low. Her mom and dad chose aggressive treatment because it was the best chance for cure. Nevaeh underwent 30 rounds of full brain and spine radiation followed by 6 months of intense chemo. She has now been cancer free for 7 years. In that time Nevaeh has dedicated herself to raising money for pediatric cancer organizations. She has raised over $30,000 for the Pinky Swear Foundation and over $100,000 for Children's Cancer Research Fund. She is now in 6th grade. Nevaeh deals with the physical challenges that cancer treatment has left her with every day. She handles those challenges with love, grace, perseverance and a smile that lights up a room.
