A week after Anna's first birthday she was diagnosed with T-cell ALL leukemia (also known as acute lymphoblastic leukemia).  The Children's Hospital website describes ALL as "a cancer that involves the white blood cells of the bone marrow. The condition develops in the bone marrow where blood cells are produced".  The doctors were able to make this diagnosis through a variety of tests and procedures.  This is treated through chemotherapy, which Anna has just begun.  

Anna celebrated her fourth birthday in April! Since she was diagnosed right after turning one, it's been interesting to think back and realize that this was really her first birthday where she was feeling well and not on treatment. We are so grateful for that and have enjoyed watching her excitement and love for life each day!

We still hold our breathe each month as we wait the 30 minutes or so for labs to come back and it is a reminder to enjoy the gift that has been given to us each day! As we think back on the last years, we are reminded of all the love, prayers and support that have been shown to us. Thank you for being there and continuing to be there for our family through this entire journey.
